Florianópolis, Ilha da Magia

"Santa Catarina tem uma exuberante capital: Floranópolis. Quase todo o seu território de 433 km2 fica numa ilha. Apenas alguns bairros estão na península continental. Com população por volta de 500 cenários que desenham um paraíso banhado pela Oceano Atlântico. Cerca de 45% da ilha é área de preservação permanente.

Possui 100 praias de características variadas, desde mar grosso com grandes ondas até enseadas abrigadas, morros cobertos com vegetação de Mata Atlântica, restingas,dunas, manguezais e lagoas. Uma das mais conhecidas imagens de Florianópolis é a Ponte Hercílio Luz, primeira ligação rodoviária entra a ilha e o continente, inaugurada em 1926. Outra é a lgoa da Conceição, onde são produzidas e comercializadas as famosas rendas de bilro.

Indígenas, negros e açorianos exerceram influência na constituição das manifestações folclóricas, nos fazeres artesanais e na alimentação da capital. Suas lendas e mitos, cultos religiosos, superstições e crendices, danças e folguedos fizeram com que ela se tornasse conhecida como "ilha da magia"."

Florianópolis, Magical Island

"Santa Catarina has an exuberant capital: Florianópolis. Almost its entire territory of 433 km2 is an island. Only a few neighborhoods are located on the continental peninsula.

With a population around 500 thousand habitants, the city has scenary that portrays paradise bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. About 45% of the island is a permanent preservation area.

Florianópolis has 100 beaches with varied characteristics, from rough seas with large waves to sheltered coves, hills covered with vegetation of the Atlantic Forest, sandbanks, dunes, mangroves and lakes. One of the most famous images of Florianópolis is the Hercílio Luz Bridge, the first road link between the island and the mainland, opened in 1926. Another is the Lagoa da Conceição, where the famous bilro lace is produced and marketed.

Indigenous peoples, African-American descendants and Azoreans have all influenced the constitution of folklore, which is apparent in the handicrafts and cuisine of the capital. Its legends and myths, religious cults, superstitions and beliefs, dances and festivals have led to the island becoming known as "magical island". "

Bela e Santa Catarina

"Serras, planícies e planaltos, cânions, enseadas e ilhas, distribuídos, num território de 95 km2, compõem a geografia de Santa Catarina.

Em 560 quilômetros de costa, há mais de 500 belíssimas praias. No interior, paisagens rurais, núcleos urbanos e uma natureza exuberante: montanhas, vales sinuosos, rios e cachoeiras escondidas na Mata Atlântica.

O mapa turístico de Santa Catarina é dividido em nove regiões que reúnem destinos de características peculiares e inúmeros atrativos paisagísticos, arquitetônicos e culturais: Grande Florianópolis, Costa Verde e Mar, Vale Europeu, Caminho dos Príncipes, Vale do Contestado, Grande Oeste, Serra Catarinense, Encantos do Sul E Caminhos dos Cânions.

São nos diversos cenários das 293 cidades deste estado, de clima subtropical e relevo acidentado, que vivem seis milhões de pessoas ( o que equivale a 3% da população brasileira), um povo protegido por uma santa que, segundo a lenda cristã, era uma princesa egípcia dotada de notável beleza e inteligência brilhante.

Assim como Santa Maria de Alexandria- padroeira do estado e também protetora dos estudantes e filósofos - os habitantes desta porção sulista do Brasil se destacam pelo seu espírito alegre e pela capacidade de harmonizar a simplicidades das regiões interioranas com a agitação dos centros mais urbanizadas.

Tão diversa quanto a geografia física é a geografia humana caracterizada pela integração de mais de 50 etnias que criam um mapa cultural de manifestações, crenças e costumes plurais."

"Hills, plains and plateaus, canyons, coves and islands distributed in an area of 95 thousand square kilometers, make up the geography of Santa Catarina.

Along its 560 kilometres of coastline, there are over 500 beautiful beaches , inland rural landscape, urban centers and an exuberant nature: hills, winding valleys, rivers and waterfalls hidden in the Atlantic Forest.

The tourist map of Santa Catarina is divided into 08 regions, each of which has destinations with unique characteristics and varied scenic, architectural and cultural attractions: Greater Florianópolis, Green Coast and Sea, European Valley, Route of princes, Contestado Valley, Great West, Santa Catarina Hills, Charms of the South and Canyon Route.

It is in this differents scenarios of 293 cities of the state, with subtropical climate and varied relief, that six million people live (equivalent to 3% of the Brazilian population). A people protected by a saint who according to Christian legend, was in Egyptian princess endowed with remarkable beauty and brillant intelligence.

Like St. Catharine of Alexandria - the patron saint of the state and protector of students and philosophers - the inhabitants of the southern portion of Brazil are marked by a joyfull spirit and the ability to harmonize the simplicity of the rural areas with the hustle and bustle of the more urbanized centers.

As diverse as its physical geography is its human geografy, which is characterized by the integration of more than fifty etnics groups that create a cultural mas of plural events, beliefs and customs."
